My name is Craig Polley, owner of SharpeningPros – a division of Human Nature. I have been in the knife crafting and blade sharpening service industry for over 30 years and take pride in the work that I do. One of the questions I am asked most often is how did I become a bladesmith?

I have always had an interest in the outdoors and bushcraft so when I entered high school, I decided to take a course on sportscraft. I can’t remember what I expected but what I discovered was how important our tools are – for hunting, cooking, working and survival. Throughout history the most important tool we needed for survival has always been the knife. It’s a necessity.

Throughout the years, I have learned how to design and create my own knives. When I couldn’t find a machine to meet my standards, I designed my own so I could create the sharpest and most long lasting edge on knives, shears and blades.

At some point – during this 33 year evolution – my craft has become my art, my work, an extension of myself. Quality is extremely important to me. When I design a knife, I use the best steels, handle materials and heat treating processes. Each knife I make is not only functional but unique and original. When I sharpen a blade, I guarantee a glass-smooth, shaving-sharp edge with even tips and no chips.
